IBCC Board Certified Pastoral Counselor
I believe that Christ is man's only hope and all counseling is vain unless founded and based on Holy Scripture.
As a faith based counselor, I believe that hiding our beliefs and trying to do value-free counseling is both unwise and impossible to do, so I want you to know what my important values and beliefs are.
I recognize that personal problems can develop due to physiology, social-environmental influences and psychological pressures. I also believe that many problems can be spiritual in nature, resulting from either not understanding biblical truth or from sinful behavior. I believe that individuals are created in God's image and can only feel complete and fulfilled through relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ.
Therefore, Christian Counseling, as opposed to other kinds of counseling, is very concerned with the spiritual, as well as emotional and physical needs of my clients. The main goal of faith based counseling is to enable clients to move toward greater emotional and spiritual health by becoming more like Jesus Christ.
I am not limited to psychological techniques or to our own human effort and wisdom. I believe that God is the real authority in counseling and He gives us the resources to change. I believe that counseling should involve praying about your difficulties and looking to the final authority of the Bible for guidance. In this way, I seek to encourage you to build a dependency on Him.
You will find forgiveness for the past, strength and comfort for the present and hope for the future by trusting in God to meet your needs while healing your emotional wounds. I try to reflect the character of Jesus Christ and to love others as He does. While I will not force religion on you, I will urge you to develop a relationship with the only true Healer of body, soul and spirit, Jesus Christ. I want to thank you for the privilege of serving you in your time of need.
Robert A. Schroeder
Rev. Robert Schroeder
As a professional percussionist and classically trained pianist, Rev. Rob has played with many in the world of rock music. Now he glorifies and plays for the only One that matters….Jesus Christ.
Born in Beacon NY and raised in Wappinger Falls NY, he developed a deep and diverse appreciation for music growing up during the 1960s.
Rob attended college after high school and received an engineering degree. After college, he chose not to pursue an engineering profession. Instead, he used his talents as a professional percussionist and performed with The Hudson Valley Philharmonic. Rob eventually retired from the professional music industry to care for his mother following his father’s passing. He utilized his college degree as an engineer with a European firm where he lived in Liechtenstein for many years. He had everything that the world had to offer but he had a terrible secret that was destroying his life very slowly. He was addicted to drugs. It was a habit that he carried for thirty years and nearly killed him several times. Eventually, after losing his job, home, possessions, relationships, and self-worth, he found himself living life as a homeless person in an abandoned building and panhandling for food money. He hit rock bottom and landed in the Utica Rescue Mission in Utica, NY.
They showed him the way home to Jesus Christ in 1991 where the chains of addiction were broken. After leaving the Utica Rescue Mission in 1992, Rob attended the World of Life Bible Institute and received his degree in Biblical Studies. He met his wife Nancy, they married and began a family. They were blessed and have two adult children Stephen and Matthew who reside with them in Fishkill NY.
Since then, Rob returned to college again and earned his BA in Christian Counseling and Psychology from Cornerstone University. His post graduate work includes International Christian Counseling Board Certified Pastoral Counselor (AACC), nationally Certified in Creation Therapy and Temperament Analysis (NCCA), Addiction and Recovery (Liberty University), Stress and Trauma (Liberty University), Military Post Traumatic Stress (Liberty University), Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (Cornell University) and Theophostic Prayer Ministry (TPM International). He is an Ordained Minister with The National Conservative Christian Church and a member in good standing in the National Christian Counselors Association and the American Association of Christian Counselors. He founded the True North Christian Counseling Center and co-founded the Renewed Hope Counseling Center where he currently serves as a Board Certified Pastoral Counselor.
Rob continues ministering through music with his church worship team, facilitating men’s ministry and organizing Christian concerts and events to reach into his community while crossing ethnic, cultural and denominational boundaries. Rob remains passionate about evangelizing to everyone he meets. His life of ministry is purposed in sharing what Jesus Christ has done in his life and the good news that has truly set him free.
